LONDON — Jeremy Clarkson has publicly hit out at the Mail Online over an article he claims is “utter horseshit.”

The former Top Gear presenter took to social media to criticise a feature published by the Mail on Thursday night, which claimed fellow presenter James May had said he was “very chuffed” that Chris Evans — Clarkson’s BBC replacement — had left Top Gear.

This is the article that angered Clarkson.

Clarkson posted a series of tweets responding to the article shortly after it went up.

Later, Clarkson tweeted directly at the article’s author, bringing him into a separate debate the presenters were having about the colour of Clarkson’s Aston Martin.

Fellow presenters James May and Richard Hammond also tweeted about the article.

In the Mail Online’s article, it’s worth noting that there is a video in which a reporter approaches May and asks him how he feels about Chris Evans standing down. May replies “What?” and then the reporter follows up by saying, “Pretty chuffed?”

May responds with “very chuffed” (the quote used in the article’s headline), although it isn’t 100% clear from the clip whether or not he’s heard the reporter’s question.

When Mashable reached out to the Mail Online, they declined to comment.
